Trans
Awareness
Week

What it is

A week of being seen

Trans Awareness Week is observed around the world in mid-November. It's a chance to celebrate transgender, and gender diverse and non-binary lives. We can share our stories, and help our communities, workplaces and schools understand and support us better.

The week builds towards Trans Day of Remembrance on 20 November, where we pause to honour the trans lives lost to violence and discrimination.

6 ways to be an ally this Trans Awareness Week

However you show up, it counts. Pick what feels right for you.

01
Learn

Get the facts, fight misinformation, and learn what it means to be trans from the words and real stories of trans people! Visit the TGV Resource Library for more resources.

02
Upskill

Find ways to make your workplace or organisation more inclusive. Simple things like sharing your pronouns and gender-neutral facilities can make your environment more inclusive for all people. Take your inclusion to the next level with training created and delivered by trans experts!

03
Celebrate

Celebrate diversity by joining community days of recognition like Trans Day of Visibility, getting guest speakers during Trans Awareness Week, or participating in events like the Gender Revel Gala.

04
Amplify

Amplify the voices of trans and gender diverse people. Help raise awareness of the challenges, needs, and ways to support trans communities. Even something as simple as sharing this website is a great place to start.

05
Advocate

Champion equality and challenge discrimination wherever you see it. Show solidarity with trans friends, family, and members of your community.

06

Trans Day of
Remembrance

Each year we observe Transgender Day of Remembrance, a time for community solidarity and remembrance. We come together to honour the lives of those we have lost to anti-trans violence and discrimination.
